A little deprivation is good for the soul...

All-nighters are uplifting for the soul. Dedication! Drive! Determination! I repeat this to myself in times of weakness tonight because I will conquer! Because time, people, is merely a flowing progression… yes progression… towards the end of my report. Instead of it being midnight, it will be snacktime. Instead of it being 3am when the security man waves at me again during his rounds, it will be tea time.

Yes, friends, frantically composing papers at the very last minute is very good for the soul, if not for the short-term welfare of the body. But to commit yourself to discovering the truth of an idea, to braving the consequences of your desire to master and to explain…. sigh…. there are few things more exhilarating than the pursuit of knowledge….. yes that’s right- I will stay up all night, AND take a good look at the sunrise while noticing carefully the way the early air smells of new snow while the rest of you time-managed, organized people sleep on in….

Hurry up and wait... but what's worth waiting for?

This song totally made me think today... hmm what is worth waiting for...

Or not so much what, but who. Cuz waiting really does suck. That's why I flat out will not take the bus here in K-towne. Just not worth it!

The weekend is always worth waiting for. I'd have to say one of the best feelings in the world is the anticipation which comes late on a sunny Friday afternoon- you know the one? When the butterflies in your stomach are havin a party and you're so hyper that concentrating on anything other than your blogger is hopeless.

My roomate Andrea when she's late getting ready to go out is always worth waiting for too.

Or there's that person you have loved for ever la la la, and say they are away or hooked up with someone else or just not paying attention. Are they worth waiting around for or do you give 'em up just like that? Well???
Tis a good-decision making tool this song.

So join the queue.... it takes a while to be satisfied.

Never assume you've got it all farkled up

Turns out my bosses gave me samples which were labeled wrong so I'm not to blame! But, for sanity's sake, the lesson to be learned here is: never assume anything at all or da big cheeze will mess with your head, guaranteed.

This is a bizarre life we are living. Just when you think you’ve got it all figured out, the big cheese throws you a curve-ball. That little bugger.

Like this morning, just when my Researcher ego couldn't grow any bigger, I realize the data from my first ZRA trial was complete bunkum. ALL BUNKUM!!! Why did I not notice this before? Was it the delusional state brought on by my sushi breakfast? Was it the lingering brainfreeze from my blizzardy walk to work this morning? Did I mention it takes about two working days to set up and run one of these wretched things?
My next question is: Do you know electrochemistry? If so, leave your contact info below my friend.

On a good note, although I'm missing out on Montreal this weekend with the Alcan Clan, Chris+Lumo's keggar is on Sat night! This is an example of what I have grown to love about playing in Kingston; the no frills, down-home partying always teetering on the point of mayhem. C'est la vie!

PS: I took some neat pictures on my way to work today

Party in the Brazing Lab!

I love my new project! I'm troubleshooting (shoooooot) some ZRA (corrosion-type-stuff) equipment and I get a lab all to myself. The best part is, there's a little stereo in there for me. This means I get to rock out to obnoxious music while inhaling acetone fumes. This morning it was Ozzy and I think Furtado will be making an appearance this afternoon.
Ahem, obviously my work here is highly scientific- pure seriousness here always.
Jeezus was I ever cranky yesterday... Can't even imagine it now. As for tonight, it's 'special' Tuesday at 199U and we're having a sweet Boozapalooza2004 prolly Jan31 or Feb.7- so mark it off as I believe everyone needs some fun!
Oh yeah and BEER!!!!
Maybe I had a bit too much time in the lab today...

"She'll bite your head clean off! It's a vicious Amber with large, sharp, pointy teeth!"

Yep, even Gong's have shitty weeks... but it's comforting to assume that bad things happen in threes.
Normally Amber isn't a stress case- but there's been far too much shiza busting my bubble. This combined with my damn report is sending me into hibernation mode at warp-speed.....
As a result, I've been cracking myself up thinking about the following funnies today:
-The vicious bunny in Monty Python and the Holy Grail
-Arnold Schwarzenegger
-Weird Al's "Just Eat It"
-Lionel Ritchie
-The theme song from Pee-wee's playhouse
-My beer hat

Hey, if you can't be immature now, when can you be?
Anyways, I'm hella tired and have yet to work on my massive PIPES at the gym... so thanks for reading- I'll try to write a lil' sum'n more intelligent tomorrow.
